Jamie is a passionate teacher with over seven years’ experience working with students of all ages and abilities, from as young as six to as mature as seventy. Based in London and Kent, Jamie has
taught both privately and at respected institutions, including YMS, DrumWise and The Rock Music School. His diverse teaching experience means he adapts his lessons to suit each student's unique style and goals, with lessons that are both practical and personalised. Whether your aim is graded exams, learning a particular song, performing with a band, or playing purely for fun, Jamie’s engaging and hands-on style ensures steady progress and an enjoyable learning journey. He draws upon his professional experiences to teach students how to handle the practical challenges of being a drummer, from setting up efficiently for gigs, to preparing with little-to-no time, and provides valuable insights into tuning, recording, writing, and performing — skills essential for any aspiring musician.
Jamie's passion for drumming spans over two decades, and while his roots are in rock and metal music, his career has seen him expand into a diverse array of genres, including jazz, funk, hip-hop and reggae. This versatility allows him to provide a well-rounded and adaptable learning experience, ensuring students are exposed to a broad spectrum of drumming styles and techniques. He’s also an accomplished performer, having toured extensively throughout Europe with bands such as Immortal Machinery, Novacaine Nothing, and The MLN Ensemble. His professional gigging experience not only gives him a thorough understanding of what it takes to succeed as a musician, but also enriches his lessons with practical insights into band dynamics, live sound, and performance preparation. Jamie’s a constant learner himself, and has had the privilege of studying under renowned drummer and educator Dave Elitch.
Jamie is also the house drummer for the popular monthly jazz and funk jam in High Wycombe known as Catch22 Jams, as well as for the annual Wycombe Jazz Festival and FrogFEST. His recent projects include performing with the thrash/groove metal band Kingdom Rise, and appearing as the jazz drummer in the upcoming feature-length film Downton Abbey 3. He’s additionally collaborated with hip-hop artists like Antlive, Ras Kass and John Jigg$, further demonstrating his ability to adapt to various musical styles and settings.
